There are a number of reasons why you may wish to put adverts on your website forum. The most likely reason is to cover your hosting costs however regardless of why you may want to know who the best companies are to use. Read on to find out which companies I reccomend.
1. Google adsense
Google adsense is probably the most known advertising company for webmasters. I've been using it for well over 3 years now and it is still my top place for advertising. Google's contextual ad service means the adverts match your sites content meaning far more clicks. There are serval ways to put adverts on your sites including text ads, image ads, search ads, feed ads, video ads and mobile ads. Plus there are plently of sizes to choose from so you're bound to find something to fit in with your sites design. You have control over the look and feel of the adverts plus you can exclude certain websites from showing on your site. All of these things put together make Adsense the top choice for advertising on my websites.

2. Adbrite
Adbrite is a company who I've only started to use recently. They offer both text and image adverts in a number of formats including full page takeovers. One problem I find with Adbrite though is that the adverts don't often match the content of the site meaning a low CTR, however the payout amount can be set as low as $5 which is good.

3. Bidvertiser
Bidvertiser was the first place I used for advertising. It simply offers text adverts in various formats, the colours can be controlled from your control panel. Like other PPC websites advertisers pay for ads by bidding for clicks. The problem I found with Bidvertiser was the very low CTR probably due to the quality of the ads. Bidvertisers ads dont seem to be able to match the content of your site which can often be a problem.

4. Matched
Matched is a new website I've recently started to use on my websites. They offer text ads only in a couple of sizes. There are a number of limitations of the adverts such as not being able to change the colour or text. The adverts are inserted on your forum or website by pasting the advert HTML. They pay a flat rate of £3.00 per advert each month and payment is sent monthly via Paypal. Payments are very good and never delayed.

5. Money4Banners
Money4Banners is a very similar setup to Matched however they offer 468x60 banners. They pay £5.00 per advert each month again via paypal. Plus as I write they offer a £10 sign up bonus which I was sent the day after signing up.
